If you want to teach wine-education courses, you have basically had two choices. One offered a low-quality, non-challenging introduction to the basic areas of wine education that could be run by "Approved" hosts. The other had a more challenging program, but was administered from the top down, leaving little room for flexibility and lots of room for disorganization and mismanagement.
Now program hosts have a better option. The International Sommelier Alliance offers hosts a globally structured program administered at the local level.
